The unintended "collateral damage" of privilege to whites must be understood, as Mr. Wise argues in this presentation, if whites are to be brought into a larger anti-racism movement as allies to people of color. Recognizing the dysfunctionality to the larger society of the very system that bestows unearned advantages upon whites is a critical step forward in the ongoing dialogue regarding white privilege and institutional racism. -- Tim Wise--Tim Wise is the Director of the newly-formed Association for White Anti-Racist Education (AWARE) in Nashville, Tennessee.
