This morning, Tuesday, August 22nd, Malachy McCourt, Howie Hawkins and the entire Green Party of New York State Peace Slate filed about
30,000 signatures of voters with the New York State Board of Elections in Albany.

Author/activist Malachy McCourt personally handed in the 27 volumes, which included about twice the number of signatures required.

The Green Party is proud to put candidates on the ballot who represent alternatives to the major parties, and a genuine voice for peace.

Malachy McCourt is the NY Times best-selling author of the book, "A Monk Swimming." Malachy McCourt is also known for his work in the theatre, on radio, on television, and in
movies. Malachy McCourt's political insights and humor have enlivened such radio stations as WAMC, and WBAI 99.5 FM/Pacifica Radio.

Malachy McCourt has been the recipient of awards from various organizations such as: Turning Point Inc. "Humanitarian Award", New York Magazine "Best of New York Award", World of Hibernia "Super Irish Award", and the
NYCLU "Florina Lasker Civil Liberties Award".

The Malachy for Governor campaign will focus on concerns such as: promoting peace, bringing the New York National Guard home from Iraq, abolishing the death penalty, repealing the anti-union Taylor laws, and providing single-payer universal healthcare for all New Yorkers.
