NEW POLL: NEW YORK VOTERS SEE ENDING THE IRAQ WAR AS BEST WAY TO HELP LOCAL ECONOMY

GROUP CALLS ON SENATE REPUBLICANS TO STOP SPENDING ON ENDLESS WAR AND FOCUS ON ISSUES AT HOME

Albany and Hudson – On Thursday, April 24, members of MoveOn.org Political Action in in the Capitol Region will release a new report, "Iraq and Recession". The report focuses on never-before-released poll numbers that show that voters in New York believe that the hundreds of billions spent on Iraq war should be invested in economic priorities at home.

“With no political progress in Iraq and no end in sight, the billions we’re squandering every week there should be invested in our faltering economy here at home,” said Robert Bisson, local MoveOn member. “It’s time to bring our troops home and use those same dollars for the priorities of most Americans--health care, clean energy, and job creation--to help those hurt by the impending recession.”

MoveOn members will also review some of the groundbreaking polling numbers from New Yorl voters. After the event, local MoveOn members will deliver the report to the offices of Sen. Clinton, Sen. Schumer, and Rep. McNulty in Albany, and Rep. Gillibrand in Hudson.
