Small-Business Leaders, Local Residents Lead Green Jobs Tour
Call on Congress to Pass Strong Clean Energy Jobs Bill to Jump-Start Job Creation in the Capital Region
Local small-business leaders and residents of NY’s Capital Region will host a tour of area clean energy businesses on Thursday, May 28 in order to drive home the point that investment in a clean energy economy will have quick economic benefits and create jobs here at home. During the tour, small-business leaders will speak to the potential for expansion of these businesses and further job creation, and encourage Representatives Tonko and Murphy to continue efforts to pass a strong clean energy jobs bill. In the past month, over 15,000 small business leaders have signed a pledge to support a clean energy economy.
The clean energy jobs bill, called the American Clean Energy and Security Act, is expected to come to a vote in the House of Representatives this summer. If a strong bill passes, it would create high-paying jobs here in the Capital Region, reduce electricity and heating costs for local households, and keep America competitive in the global economy, the group argues.
